WEST ALLIS, Wis., April 15 (UPI) — A 61-year-old Wisconsin man said he is retiring as a pizza delivery driver after working the job for 30 years.
Andy Zoladkiewicz of New Berlin, who worked for Big Ebe’s Pizza in West Allis for 21 years after nine years of delivering for Pepino’s in Milwaukee, said he initially took a pizza delivery gig to make extra money and he made his last delivery Monday, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported Friday.
Zoladkiewicz, who retired from his 31-year day job at Eaton Corp. in 2005, said rising gas prices have cut into his profits from driving and his aging eyes are having a harder time reading house numbers at night.
Mike Ebert, owner of Big Ebe’s, said he is sorry to see his best driver retire.
“We’ve gone through hundreds of drivers while he’s been here. It’s hard to find guys like him. You just don’t get loyalty like that,” Ebert said.
