Sarah Palin, the former Republican US vice-presidential nominee, is reportedly being divorced by her husband Todd after they found it “impossible” to live together.
In court documents filed on Friday in Anchorage Superior Court, Todd Palin, 54, sought to dissolve the marriage.
He referred to an “incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife.”
The papers, which provided only initials, were filed by T.M.P. against S.L.P, the Anchorage Daily News reported.
Todd Palin’s middle name is Mitchell and 55-year-old Sarah Palin’s middle name is Louise.
The documents said the couple married on Aug 29, 1988 – the same as the Palins. Birthdates for the two also corresponded.
In addition, the documents said the couple has a minor child identified as T.P.V.P. who was born April 18, 2008.
The Palins’ youngest child, Trig Paxson Van Palin, was born that day.
Todd Palin reportedly requested joint custody of Trig.
The Palins other four children are Track, 30, Bristol, 28, Willow, 25, and Piper, 18.
The couple met at high school and eloped with Sarah initially helping her husband with his fishing business.
She then moved into politics, becoming governor of Alaska, and then John McCain’s surprise pick as his running mate in the 2008 Us presidential election.
While Mrs Palin was governor of Alaska her husband became known as the “first dude”.
She and Mr McCain lost the 2008 presidential election to Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
Mrs Palin resigned as governor of Alaska in 2009 but remained a prominent political figure, particularly amid the rise of the Tea Party.
In 2016 she was an early backer of Donald Trump who fought hard to win her endorsement.
There was no immediate comment from the Palin family.
